Planning an Ibiza family holiday for 2027? Start with the families who went.

11 families, 5 resorts and one island with a reputation it only half deserves. Where they stayed, what it cost, and which part of Ibiza suits toddlers, teenagers and grandparents, so you can book 2027 with confidence.

Why Ibiza is an incredible family holiday

Ibiza is one of the best family holidays you can book from the UK. A short flight, quick transfers, shallow sandy beaches, sunshine you can rely on and hotels that make a real fuss of kids. The party reputation lives in a few places, long after bedtime, and the rest of the island is relaxed, beautiful and easy. Choose the right resort and it is hard to beat.

Don't just take our word for it. Everything on this page comes from families who actually went, paid their own way and told us how it really was. That includes toddlers on their first trip abroad, kids with SEN, teenagers, and grandparents in their seventies and eighties. One of the stories is mine: a week in Es Figueral with our two year old.

Find the part of Ibiza that fits your family

Each corner of the island has its own feel, and families have loved all of them. Here is how they compare.

Best for: A first family holiday abroad

Es Caná

A small, walkable resort on the east coast, near Santa Eulària. Seven of our eleven families stayed here, and several have been going back for decades. One first came nearly 50 years ago.

Why families love it. Everything is a few minutes away on foot: a clean beach that shelves gently, supermarkets, a small funfair that opens in the evening, and the Wednesday hippie market.

Good for. Toddlers, multi-generational trips and anyone who does not want to hire a car. One family called it "a genuinely safe resort, suitable for all ages".

Watch out for. Cool evenings outside peak summer. A family who went in May said to pack hoodies.

Best for: Families on a budget

Playa d'en Bossa

A long, sandy strip on the south coast, a couple of miles from the airport. It has a party reputation, but one mum told us that by day it is a proper family beach resort.

Why families love it. 10 to 15 minute transfers, a shallow beach, Aguamar water park within walking distance, and the ferry to Formentera from the pier.

Good for. Families with kids aged roughly 4 and up who want plenty to do without a car.

Watch out for. Plane noise by day, people heading home from the clubs at night, and dated rooms in the cheaper hotels.

Best for: Staying put in the resort

Es Figueral

A quiet spot on the north east coast with a few big all inclusive resorts and not much else around them.

Why families love it. Big resorts with water parks, kids clubs and kids discos, plus direct beach access. Lots of families return year after year.

Good for. Families who want everything on site and are not fussed about going out.

Watch out for. Very little within walking distance, so you will want a car for a day or two. Ibiza Town is about 40 minutes away.

Best for: A shallow bay two minutes from your room

Cala Pada

A small cove on the east coast between Es Canar and Santa Eulària, quiet enough that the family who stayed there walked to the beach every day without ever finding it busy.

Why families love it. A calm, shallow bay a two minute walk away with a beach bar, about 40 minutes from the airport, and big apartment complexes with kids clubs rather than hotel rooms.

Good for. Families who want a swimmable beach on the doorstep, and groups who need two bedrooms rather than one.

Watch out for. The apartment blocks are characterful rather than new. Ask at check in about which block you are in; our family was moved on request at no cost.

Best for: A quieter base on the west coast

Port des Torrent

A small resort on the west coast near Sant Josep, a short drive from San Antonio. Less to do on the doorstep than the east coast resorts, and much quieter for it.

Why families love it. Crystal clear, shallow water at Port des Torrent beach, walkable from the hotels, and Kumharas five minutes down the road for sunset views.

Good for. Families who plan to spend most of the week by the pool, and anyone who wants quiet over choice.

Watch out for. Not much within walking distance beyond the beach, and nothing indoors for a rainy day. Taxis and Ubers are easy, so a car is optional.

What the Ereso stories agree on

A splash pool that is safe for toddlers, an entertainment team families rave about (and the hotel's La Bomba dance), and a five minute walk to the beach and funfair. One family recommends paying extra for a sea or pool view, as some balconies face each other over the restaurant.

One mixed review

A family that has visited Es Caná for 23 years had disappointing evening meals at the Ereso on one stay, so they ate out instead. They now prefer Mar y Huerta on a bed and breakfast basis.

What families said

“Honestly, the beach did most of the parenting for us.”
Emma Hughes, Playa d'en Bossa, two kids
“Alma was occupied, well fed and watered, which meant no tantrums. Brenda threw herself into everything. And I could actually relax.”
Dawn Simpson, Es Caná, three generations
“Even now, three years later, he still remembers the trampolines and what he called the ‘Marshall ride’.”
Kelly Dyson, Es Caná, first holiday abroad with a two year old
“The kids, all SEN, loved parasailing in Santa Eulalia, the mocktails, and the boat trips, in fact they loved the boats most of all.”
Julie Farrington, Es Caná
“The staff came round with blankets so we did not have to cut the evening short. If you are going in May, pack hoodies.”
Toni Banton, Es Caná, in May
“This really is a stay in the resort sort of place. If you have gone all inclusive, that may be exactly what you are after.”
Tom Masters, Es Figueral, with a two year old
The honest downsides they flagged
  • Children with autism found the Ereso's busy restaurant overwhelming, and there was no outside terrace to eat on.
  • At Fergus Style Bahamas the rooms are dated, there is no kettle, and the included cocktails are weak.
  • Sunloungers and umbrellas on the beach in Es Figueral cost about €10 each per day. Bring your own if you can.
  • The bigger kids water parks at the Es Figueral resort suit ages 5 and up, not toddlers.

Tips for planning 2027, from families who have been

  • Late May was 23 to 26°C every day, which was perfect with a toddler. Evenings can still be chilly, so pack layers.
  • July and August are hot, busy and the most expensive, especially in the school holidays.
  • Late deals happen: one family got about £750 per person all inclusive by booking a couple of weeks before an August trip.

Ibiza family holiday FAQs

Is Ibiza too much of a party island for kids?

Not if you choose where you stay carefully. The clubs are in a few places, and even in Playa d'en Bossa the families we spoke to said the party side only shows up late at night. Es Caná and the north east coast are quiet, family-focused resorts.

What is the best area in Ibiza for families with toddlers?

Es Caná came out top in our stories. It is small and walkable, the beach is gentle, and the family hotels there have shallow splash pools.

How much does a family holiday to Ibiza cost?

Our families paid from about £750 per person on a late deal to around £3,000 for a family week in the school holidays, all inclusive with flights.

Do you need a car in Ibiza with kids?

Not in Es Caná or Playa d'en Bossa, where buses and taxis are cheap. In quieter areas like Es Figueral, a car for a day or two makes a big difference.

How long is the flight to Ibiza from the UK?

Just under 3 hours from Manchester.
