Where I Stayed in Can Pastilla

For my trip to Mallorca, I chose to stay in Can Pastilla, and I couldn't have picked a better base. It's a relaxed coastal area just a short distance from Palma, with a lovely beachfront promenade, plenty of cafés, restaurants and supermarkets, and a much calmer atmosphere than some of the larger resorts. It's also an aviation enthusiast's dream! I stayed at the Nautic Hotel and Spa, right on the seafront, and it was the perfect base."

Everything I needed was within walking distance, and getting around was incredibly easy. Regular buses run into Palma's city centre in around 20-30 minutes, and the airport is only a short taxi or bus ride away (6 minutes!). I rarely felt like I needed a car.

I'd happily stay in Can Pastilla again. It felt safe, convenient and had the perfect balance of beach life and easy access to the city and surrounding areas.

What I Did in Mallorca as a Solo Traveller

One of the things I enjoyed most about travelling solo here was being able to take each day at my own pace. Some mornings were spent relaxing on the beach reading a book or soaking up the sun, while others were dedicated to exploring Palma's historic streets, browsing local shops or simply wandering without a plan.

There are plenty of activities to choose from depending on what you're into, whether that's sightseeing, boat trips, cycling or just enjoying the Mediterranean sunshine. They also offer lots of excursions to other beautiful towns like Sóller, which is a must see!

Where I Ate and Drank in Can Pastilla

Travelling alone made it easy to try different places whenever I felt like it. Can Pastilla has a great mix of traditional Spanish restaurants, beachfront cafés, bakeries and cocktail bars, so there was always somewhere to stop for a meal or a drink.

My personal favourite cocktail bar was Frida's. My favourite restaurant was a beautiful authentic Italian place called Don Romero's, where I stopped and had a lovely chat with the owner who was so passionate and welcoming.

One thing I noticed was that the restaurants just away from the seafront often offered better value than those with the beach views, so it's worth wandering a little before deciding where to eat.

I also made regular supermarket meals to keep the costs down.

How Much Does a Solo Trip to Mallorca Cost?

Overall, I thought Mallorca offered good value. You can easily spend more if you eat and drink on the main promenade every day, but there are plenty of affordable options if you explore a little or you're happy to make your own meals.

Public transport was inexpensive, making it easy to visit Palma without relying on taxis, and many of my favourite moments didn't cost anything at all, like walking along the seafront, watching the sunset, plane spotting and exploring the town.

My hotel, the Nautic Hotel and Spa, is right on the seafront and cost approximately £80 per night (I booked well in advance during off season) and that included 2 pools, a rooftop bar and a double bed with a balcony view! Normally I would stay in hostels but decided to treat myself.

The Verdict: Is Can Pastilla Good for Solo Travel?

I'd definitely return to Can Pastilla. As a solo traveller, it ticked all the boxes: it felt safe, easy to get around, close to the airport and within easy reach of Palma whenever I wanted a change of scenery.

I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxed beach break with the option to explore the city without needing a car. If I came back, I'd probably spend even more time discovering local cafés, hidden streets and places away from the main tourist areas.

It's the kind of destination that's easy to enjoy whether you're travelling alone, looking for a quiet escape or simply wanting a stress-free base to explore Mallorca.
