Where we stayed
Canton Bach in Nefyn, a converted post office on the Llŷn Peninsula. It's a one-bed apartment but well kitted out. Full kitchen so you can self cater, and there's a coffee machine which is always a win. The owners have grandkids so there was already a load of baby stuff there which saved us packing half the house. No dedicated parking but we always got a spot on the road directly opposite, never had an issue. Nefyn itself is a tiny village. There's a beach about ten minutes on foot, a pub three minutes away and a Premier for supplies. You'll want a car though. Morfa Nefyn is a ten-minute drive and Abersoch is about thirty. Would absolutely stay again.
What we did
This was our first proper trip as a new family so we kept it simple. Walked down to the beach in Nefyn, drove over to Morfa Nefyn for the day (the beach there is something else, proper clear water), and spent another day in Abersoch which we both love. Baby's first time touching the sea, which was the highlight if we're being honest. It's not a trip where you need a packed itinerary. The whole point is slowing down.
Where we at and drank
We ate at Bombay Joes, the local Indian. Good food, no complaints. Tafarn Yr Heliwr is a bar about three minutes on foot and was our go-to for drinks. We got the pushchair in no problem and they've got board games lying around which is a nice touch. Met loads of locals across both places, everyone was really friendly. The Premier nearby covers you for snacks and basics.
What it cost
£245.58 for two nights on Airbnb. We drove from Manchester which is a couple of hours, so fuel on top but nothing major. For a weekend away with a baby it's hard to beat on value. Eating and drinking locally is cheap too. Nefyn isn't a tourist-price kind of place.
The verdict
Loved it. Morfa Nefyn has been one of our favourite spots for years and it was great to take the little one there for the first time. Perfect for young families who want a low-key weekend without the stress of airports or big plans. We'd do it again tomorrow. Only thing we'd change is staying longer.
