Where we stayed

We stayed in H10 Roma Citta. Don't stay there. Should be called H10 Roma NOT Citta. They hotel itself is okay but its miles out of the city, the busses are a bit of a pain and the bus ticket system is a nightmare. You have to buy them beofre you get on the bus from weird little shops that are dotted about the place. It seems like its designed to fine tourists. The last thing you need after walking for hours around what is arguably the most impressive city in the world, is to have to find a ticket shop, and then get on a busy bus for 15 mins back to your very average hotel.

Also the breakfast (which I am all about) was naff, there was ants eating the pancakes and our room looked out onto a weird little field that people would let there dogs run round and bark at 5am every morning which was not ideal.

My point here, is don't stay here. But DO go to Rome.

What we did

Wow wow wow. Rome is officially my fave city in the world. Incredible. Just absolutely breath taking. We just did the stuff everyone does really. Colosseum tour. Amazing. Hop on and off bus around the city. Vatican city tour. The money there is silly and even if you have a strong dislike for religion, still defo worth just seeing it all. Trevi fountain. Its silly busy but just push your way to the front and chuck a coin in. Just a good experience.

It was HOT so we spent a lot of time just chilling in the a park that is opposite the colosseum. The trees there are so beautiful. Its a real peaceful little park and we just sat and read our books and just enjoyed being there.

Walk over to Trastevere. Eat in all the places. Sit and have a beer. Eat loads of ice cream. Dance to some street music. Amazing little place.

Where we ate and drank

We ate in a little restaturant that was literally right across from the Colosseum. The food and drink was okay but its more about the experience of sipping a glass of wine, eating some pizza whilst looking at one of the most exciting monuments ever built. Defo worth it for the experience.

Go to a part of the city called Trastevere. Best food in the city. We ate at a place called Tonnarello. Incredible. We ate at loads of places in Trastevere and it was generally amazing so just go there.

Also peanut ice cream from Neve di Latte | Vittorio Veneto. Incredible stuff.

What it cost

It cost a lot. We did Jet2 city breaks. Always use Jet2. Just so easy. I think it cost just short of £3k for 5 nights for the flights and rubbish hotel, then we probably spent a few hundred whilst we were there just living our best life.

Worth it.

The verdict

Yeah I would go back. We did actually go back a year later which I will write about seperately. Much much better hotel choice. I would go back again. Rome is one hell of a city.
