Where we stayed
We stayed in a lovely Airbnb with a pool overlooking the most incredible views. There really is something special about sitting by the pool, surrounded by mountains, with the old town and bay stretching out below you. It was the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. Everything was close by so we mainly explored on foot.
What we did
Kotor Old Town was definitely a highlight. The narrow cobbled streets, historic buildings, little squares and hidden corners made it the kind of place you could happily wander around without a plan. Every turn seemed to reveal another beautiful building, restaurant or little shop. We also took the cable car to the top of the mountains which had breathtaking views of the bay! The cable car was very modern, even with faux leather seats. At the top of the mountain there is a lovely restaurant and bar with a DJ, a perfect spot to watch the sunset and let loose!
Where we ate and drank
The food was another big reason we loved Kotor. There are so many fantastic restaurants tucked away around the Old Town, serving everything from fresh seafood and local specialities to delicious Mediterranean dishes. Long lunches, evening drinks and dinners surrounded by all that history quickly became some of our favourite moments. Konoba Scala Santa in particular was gorgeous and reasonably priced.
What it cost
The trip roughly cost £3,000 for the two of us for 10 nights. Flights to Tivat are typically quite expensive for a European flight, easily looking between £400 and £550 even out of peak season.
The verdict
We absolutely would return to Kotor, although perhaps for a shorter length of time maybe 5 nights. The scenery is just incredible with a relaxed vibe and the September weather was fantastic.
