When I planned my trip to India, there was one thing at the top of my list: seeing the Taj Mahal at sunrise. I'd seen photos for years, but everyone I spoke to said the same thing—you have to see it with your own eyes.

Since I was staying in New Delhi and didn't want to deal with the logistics of trains, taxis, and tickets, I booked a sunrise Taj Mahal experience through Airbnb. The experience was operated by Namaste India Tours, and having everything arranged in advance made the trip much easier.

I booked the tour through Airbnb a few weeks before arriving in India. The reviews were excellent, and I liked the fact that transportation and planning were taken care of. Looking back, I would definitely book the same way again. It allowed me to focus on enjoying the experience rather than worrying about the details.

The day started very early. While most of Delhi was still asleep, I was picked up from my hotel and began the drive to Agra. The roads were quiet, and I spent most of the journey watching the sky slowly change from black to shades of orange and pink.

The drive took a few hours, but it felt surprisingly comfortable. Before I knew it, we were approaching the entrance to the Taj Mahal just as dawn was breaking.

I stayed in Connaught Place in New Delhi, which turned out to be an excellent base. There were plenty of restaurants, cafés, and hotels nearby, and the early morning pickup made the entire trip hassle-free. If I return to Delhi, I would stay in the same area again.

Nothing quite prepares you for seeing the Taj Mahal for the first time.

As the gates opened and the morning light began to appear, the white marble seemed to change colour every few minutes. One moment it looked soft grey, then pale pink, and finally bright white as the sun rose higher in the sky.

What surprised me most was how peaceful it felt. I'd expected huge crowds, but arriving early meant there was space to slow down and simply appreciate the view.

After spending time at the Taj Mahal, we continued to Agra Fort. I hadn't expected to enjoy it as much as I did, but it ended up being one of the highlights of the day. The fort offers incredible views and a fascinating glimpse into the history of the Mughal Empire.

After the sunrise visit, breakfast tasted even better than usual. We stopped at a local restaurant in Agra and enjoyed traditional North Indian food along with several cups of chai. Throughout the day, I found food and drinks to be both affordable and excellent.

The tour wasn't the cheapest day of my trip, but it offered very good value. Transportation, guidance, and the convenience of having everything organized made it worthwhile. Food and drinks were generally less expensive than I expected, and nothing felt overpriced.

Would I do it again? Without hesitation.

The early alarm, the long drive, and the lack of sleep were all forgotten the moment I saw the Taj Mahal at sunrise. It was one of those travel experiences that genuinely lives up to the hype.

I would recommend this trip to anyone visiting India for the first time, especially if you're based in Delhi. My advice is simple: choose the sunrise option, bring your camera, and take your time. Don't rush. Some places deserve to be appreciated slowly, and the Taj Mahal is definitely one of them.
